Re: Apply to be a Moderator

I would like to become a moderator mostly because I enjoy enforcing rules to the best of my ability on OpenFeint. I would love the opportunity to become one and know that I am helping other users have a better time posting in a friendlier environment.

As for qualifications, my only forum experience is OpenFeint and Forumator. If you can call MiniNation a forum then add that to the list. However, I feel I grasped the concept of forums quickly and enjoy spending time on them. I think in the sense that I try to enforce rules as often as possible on OF, I have some qualification, but actually being a moderator will likely be different as I would have more authority.

As said, I have never been on a forum other than OF and Forumator, so have never been given the opportunity to become a moderator.

I feel people can talk to me easily, for whatever reason, and that I get along with all users easily. I deal with any rulebreakers in a calm manner and dont get angry, if a problem persists then I report it to someone of higher authority. I think having someone who can communicate with the other users in a friendly way would be a valuable asset to any forum.

I often read all posts in threads anyway, so this won't be anything new if I am appointed a mod. I try to contribute as much as I can to a thread, where I feel I have a valid point to make.

I never take criticism to heart and always respond in a level-headed manner. Where possible, I will try and improve myself based on any suggestions made, if I think that it is a sensible change to make.

I usually check OpenFeint and MiniNation during any free time I have, even if I don't stay long. Although it is early days for the forum, I believe once it takes off I will be on here much more often and for long periods of time.

I don't know if the fact that I am a prefect at my school is relevant. I do have to enforce rules and deal out punishments where necessary, as well as, helping pupils with any problems they have. I suppose being a moderator is much like this, so I feel I would become used to the position quickly and know how to act as a rolemodel for newer users.

my reasons are about the same as slipknot's. i really see no need to type everything and have it be more or less the same, so there you go.

Becoming an OpenFeint Moderator

Post  BloodClaw199 on Wed Feb 08, 2012 6:13 am

On OpenFeint, I am a witness to much verbal abuse and breakage of the rules provided by Admin. As an individual of enforcing the rules and keeping the peace, resulting in a more calm and pleasant environment on OpenFeint is quite important to me.

It has come to my attention that many Moderators appointed either do not visit OpenFeint often, or treat the Feints with ignorance and disrespect, this resulting in the thinking of Feints believing that breaking the rules is alright and nothing shall happen to them or that all Moderators are untrustworthy and rude  As a Moderator, I would handle this is a calm manor, thinking with a clear mind and with unbiased thoughts. Being a moderator is extremely important to me as keeping the peace is an internal part of me, which I do in my everyday life.

Presently on OpenFeint, I warn Feints if they are breaking the rules, then report them to a higher level, or a moderator that I know so that action can be taken. I usually try and educate Feints on what breaking the rules is by being a role model for them now and showing them how to react peacefully to a dispute. I believe that all disputes or communications can be done in a peaceful manor, and I would like to be able to show them how to do that on a higher level.

On Forums, I often browse them, but I do not comment unless needed. For other forums other then OpenFeint, I do not have much experience. But, on OpenFeint, I have been a Feinter for many years now, and I believe that I have the confidence of the Feints, new and old, and the ability to converse easily with the Feints. This is important because without trust there is no relationship, and furthermore; there would be much dispute between the Feint and the Moderator, which I believe would not happen with myself.

In all, I believe being a moderator is important as I would like to be one is to keep OpenFeint safe, peaceful, and enjoyable for all users to interact on and converse in a friendly manor. Also, that enforcing rules and educating people on what is right in a friendly, and polite manor is quite important to me, as it not only makes me feel good, but affects the Forums as a whole in a positive way.
